So tired

I worked early, then headed to Fremont to help chez smeeedlight move. After packing all the stuff, it started raining hard after we arrived to unpack. The new place is up three flights of stairs.
Headed home soaked & changed quickly. Got Chinese food with gary and headed to kiki's place. She made me some fleece socks for Xmas.
Now watching 30 Rock with toasty toes. So nice to be home.

Tinybit hungover

Spent yesterday running last minute errands, then went to the driving range with Scarlett & had a blast! We finished in the early evening at a bar. Gary picked us up, then I cooked a turkey & we had a late dinner.

We're sitting around the kitchen in our new Xmas pjs. Gary got me a tortoise puppet. His big gift is at the parents' place, which we'll visit later.

I'm sick

I hate being sick, but glad it's only a cold and it's not so bad that it requires me calling the doc for some prednisone.

I'm watching trashy TV to make me feel better. Yesterday, I spent the afternoon watching disk 1 of True Blood and Twilight.

Today will be an Edward Norton mini-festival. I've called in sick to work.

I pushed myself today and did 1.5 miles in 22 minutes at the track. Yay!

Funny how the knee doesn't hurt while running.

My poor sneakers are holey and they're not even a year old.

I slept so well the other night that I woke up at 4 this morning and couldn't get back to it, so waited until sunrise then went out running on the fire road. What used to take me 45 minutes to an hour walking now takes me 20 to 25 minutes from gate to gate.

My total time running was 26 minutes with the last 20 being the whole trail on the way back.

I ran by the elementary school in my neighborhood and the kids were singing to a CD of "Footloose". When I cam back, they were singing "Let's Hear It for the Boy"! :) How cute!

Gary is snoozing the day away. It's our monthly day off together and we're supposed to go to the Academy of Sciences. Dude, come on! We have $25 worth of fun to have!

I might convince him to go on a long hike. I have to work both days this weekend.

I had a free hour-long hula lesson given to me by Ginger, who'd won it in a raffle, and I had my appointment tonight. The instructor taught me a basic choreography and the more I learned, the more she got excited. She even happily went overtime too and wanted to keep me there longer! She said I was a natural and even offered me another free hour because she wants me to keep dancing.

That was a total ego boost. :)

After lunch at our fave buffet, it was nice enough to go walking around, so we decided to walk in SF. By the time we got there, it was pissing down, so we walked in the rain to the Conservatory. It was a blast! A cold, arctic and wet blast!

Today was my first day that I felt well enough to work out and did pretty good--about 40 minutes of belly dance, then worked out with Jillian Michaels and she totally kicked my ass with my squats and planks and all kinds of stuff.

God, I hate her. :P

I got a ticket for BRC and accompanied Gary on his bike ride to work. I dropped off books and on the way back, took my old nemesis San Carlos Avenue.

I rode it most of the way, but did walk it a little bit.
Whenever I downshift, it takes about 15 seconds for it to change gear and it's noisy, so I stop to check it. When I'm facing uphill, I have a hard time starting it up. So I walked it for a block, then hopped on. The next hill (it's a long, gradual incline) I did completely walk-free.

It really does help to learn to use the gears and chains.

Gary and I have been actively Georging* our currency for about a year now and G got a hit in Australia! (also ?!? Australia?)

Also, his bike was down for the count during our time off, but we finally went on that bike ride last Sunday and my butt still hurts. We are talking about doing actual road trips once I get more comfortable with riding (I'm still having a hard time with climbing uphill and standing out of the saddle). Plus, we should get more comfortable with backpacking (G is not a big camper, but he's getting there).

*I learned about Georging from the gorgeous rowanf and it's her birthday today (1/6). Happy Birthday! I hope are you are doing well. :)
